Interstellar Angel An Astral Heat Romance #1 by Laura Navarre

I received an e-arc of this book from NetGalley and Ascendant press in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoy sci-fi/paranormal romance as well as those with a reverse harem spin including those with a polyamorous lean to the RH. So far in my experience with NetGalley those have been pretty rare so I quickly requested this one despite the fact that I found the cover to be cheesy, fairly unappealing and now that I’ve finished the book not terribly representative of the way I pictured the characters. Ben is the closest as I pictured Adam Driver for his character and that guy kind of looks like him. Zoren I pictured older and more battle worn as described and Dex bigger and the heroine with longer hair and different dress and a more techy looking sword since it’s described as a cyber saber. Were I to be paging through kindle unlimited looking for something to catch my eye I’m not certain this would have based on the cover which is unfortunate because it was a really great read.

Be advised it is a steamy slow burn with a cliff hanger. There is no formal consummation of any relationship but it was done in such a way that I did not mind. There was an interesting and unique balance of interwoven relationships, attractions and histories that played off one another in a way that was delightful and delicious.

The world building was solid. I enjoy when an author relates a difference back to how prior humans on earth did whatever as a point of reference for the reader and while that was not employed here it did not take long to settle into the environment and understand the players involved.

There’s an element of enemies to lovers as everyone’s mad at someone for something reasonable to be mad about but largely unavoidable by the perpetrator. There’s a feeling of insta-love in the form of immediate attraction.

I did not spot any glaring typos or grammatical errors.

4.5 stars out of 5 primarily for the cover being eh.

This was my first time reading this author and I will definitely look forward to reading more of her work.

Overall this was a really fun steamy read but if cliffhangers bother you wait until they’ve all been released then binge. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment.
